About New Wave Produce

We are New Wave Produce a small, family run produce farm, our main focus is hydroponic tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce as well as several different field crops throughout the year.

We have been growing vegetables for several years but decided to scale up our production after visiting a hydroponic greenhouse operation growing tomatoes. After shopping around and receiving funding we began construction of the greenhouse in August of 2012. Construction was completed in October 2012.

The main greenhouse has 11200 square feet of growing area, which houses the hydroponic growing system, we use a Bato bucket system for vine crops and an NFT(nutrient film technique)for lettuce and select herbs. This system allows us to grow 2800 tomato plants along with about 80 cucumber vines which can produce September through June. The greenhouse environment allows us to grow the tomatoes and cucumbers without insect problems, so we don’t use pesticides, so you get fresh, clean vegetables without fear of toxins.

Our goals are simply to grow and sell only the freshest, healthiest produce we can for the customers we serve.

Our Products

Tomatoes

We grow several varieties of tomatoes, both hybrids and heirloom varieties, everything from cherry and pear tomatoes to large beefsteak varieties.  These tomatoes come in several colors as well, reds, pinks, yellows and even brown tomatoes.

Cucumbers

We currently grow two varieties of cucumbers, a salad/ slicer type and a greenhouse variety.  The greenhouse variety is a seedless, thin skinned cucumber that doesn’t need peeling.

Odds & Ends

Other greenhouse crops include Italian Large Leaf Basil along with bell peppers and several varieties of hot chili peppers including Jalapenos and Cayenne.

We also grow several different field crops when the weather and seasons permit, including corn, okra, purple hull peas, onions and garlic.

We use organic pest control methods whenever possible including beneficial insects, every once in a while we do use Neem oil as a last defence.
